The Coventry Local Plan and City Centre Area Action Plan were submitted to the Secretary of State on 1 April 2016. This followed a period of statutory public consultation between 18 January 2016 and 29 February 2016. Following its submission, the Secretary of State appointed an independent Inspector – Rebecca Phillips BA(Hons) MSc DipM MCIM MRTPI – to oversee the public examination of the Plan and its evidence base. The Inspector has now confirmed that the Council can consult on proposed modifications to both Plans. This will put forward a schedule of amendments to both Plans to overcome issues of soundness and factual correction. The majority of these modifications will reflect the Action Points identified through the examination process to date.
Proposed modifications were presented to Cabinet and Council on 7 and 14 March 2017 respectively.
A series of drop-in sessions will be held. These will commence on Friday 24 April and will be focused around the proposed changes to both plans.
Representations should be submitted in writing or via email to the City Council. They should clearly set out the modification you wish to comment on and the reasons for your comments.

Following this consultation process the proposed modifications and all received responses will be sent to the Inspector for her final consideration. If the Inspector is satisfied that the proposed changes overcome all outstanding issues of soundness then she will issue her final report and the Council will move towards adoption of the Plans. If issues remain outstanding then the Inspector may call additional hearing sessions or seek written clarification etc.
The Local Plan webpage and the City Centre Area Action Plan webpage will be continuously updated as the examinations progress and will contain the Examination Library where all documentation relating to the two submitted plans and associated examination documents can be viewed.
The examination process remains open until such time as the Inspector provides her final report.
The DCLG Local Plan procedural guidance was updated on 23 June 2016 and sets out the role of the Planning Inspectorate at examination as well as other useful information.
