Review of library opening hours

A review of libraries has resulted in proposals to change the current opening hours to make sure they are open at the times when people want to use them the most. The initial proposals were considered by the Council's Cabinet Members on 12 August.


Public Consultation

Elected Members have agreed a public consultation period until 7 November 2008.  Please can you complete the survey online using our online form. Alternatively, a downloadable survey form is available here for you to comment on these proposals.Copies outlining the review and how people can comment are available from local libraries in ealy September..

Following the consultation, a final report will be presented to Cabinet in December with implementation of the new opening hours in April 2009. Council officers looked at current visitor patterns, information about each library and how people use them and the need to improve equality of access to facilities.
