Services and price list
Certificates
Fees charged at the office can be paid by cash, cheque supported by a bank card or a debit/credit card (minimum spend £5).
The Registrar records a birth, death or marriage at the time of registration in their register. Whilst the register is still active, ie not full, the Registrar is able to issue you with a certificate at a charge of £3.50.
Once the register is full it is transferred to the archives for permanent preservation. The certificate is then issued at the following prices:
Standard Copy Certificate of birth, death or marriage (gives full details of register entry) | £7.00 |
Short Copy Certificate of birth (will not provide details of parents) | £5.50 |
A Copy Certificate is a certified copy of the original entry in the register, signed by either the Registrar or Superintendent Registrar and as such is a legal document that can be used for official purposes.
Marriages/Civil Partnerships
To give notice of intention to marry/form a civil partnership(further details on before getting married or notice of intention) £30.00 per person payable at the time of appointment.
Ceremony in an approved premise, including cost of one certificate, payable at least four weeks before the ceremony:
Monday – Friday | £253.50 |

Sunday | £353.50 |
For a marriage at the Register Office there are different costs depending on which room you choose to use.
Our largest room accommodates up to 50 people and is called 'The Black Prince Room'. Ceremonies can be booked in this room Monday - Sunday for the following fees, including the cost of your certificate, payable at least 4 weeks prior to ceremony:
Monday - Friday £103.50
Saturday £203.50
Sunday £253.50
Our smallest room accommodates up to 25 people and is available for ceremonies Monday - Saturday mornings only for a fee of £40.00 plus £3.50 for the Certificate, which is a total £43.50 per couple. (Additional Certificates may be requested at the time for the fee of £3.50 and will be available for collection or postage the following working day).
A Registrar from the Register Office attending a marriage in a religious building where that building does not have its own registrar appointed costs £47.00 per couple, plus £3.50 for the Marriage Certificate.
Other Ceremonies
Naming Ceremonies and Renewal of Vows:-
Monday - Friday £150 , Saturday £200 and Sunday £250 (All prices inclusive of VAT)
Fees relating to organisations wishing to register a building
Registration of a building for public worship £28.00
Certification of a building for marriage £120.00

Citizenship Ceremony
There is no cost for a standard group ceremony. For further details please see our pages on Citizenship Ceremonies. Our Standard Group Ceremonies are enjoyable civic occasions and we would encourage applicants to attend one of these ceremonies. The standard group cermonies are normally held on the last Wednesday of each month at the Council House in Coventry.
However, you may choose to have a private ceremony, in which case the following charges apply.
