Online communities and social media
Online communities are websites that enable people who share a common interest to interact with each other. We use some online communities such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube to communicate with local residents and businesses.Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.
Coventry City Council 'tweets' a few times a day about news and events. You can follow us at:

Facebook is a free social networking website. Users can join networks organised by city, workplace, school, and region to connect and interact with other people.
Coventry City Council uses Facebook to raise awareness of campaigns and consultations.

Flickr
Flickr is a free online photo management and sharing application.
Coventry City Council uses Flickr to share photos of Coventry.

YouTube
YouTube is a free online video sharing application.
Coventry City Council uses YouTube to share videos about the work it does, its people and events.

Friendfeed
Friendfeed aggregates and consolidates the updates from social websites.
Coventry City Council uses Friendfeed to show updates in Twitter, Flickr and YouTube.

Rules and guidelines
Most online communities have their own rules and guidelines, which we will always follow. We reserve the right to remove any contributions that break the rules or guidelines of the relevant community, or any of the following:
- Be civil, tasteful and relevant.
- Do not post messages that are unlawful, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented or racially offensive.
- Do not swear.
- Do not post content copied from elsewhere, for which you do not own the copyright.
- Do not post the same message, or very similar messages, more than once (also called "spamming").
- Do not publicise your, or anyone else's, personal information, such as contact details.
- Do not advertise products or services.
- Do not impersonate someone else.
