Burial
If you should choose a burial for the funeral, Coventry Bereavement Services can offer new grave spaces at Canley Garden, St. Paul's, and Lentons Lane Cemeteries. With the exception of Canley Garden Cemetery, graves can be selected on either 'Lawn Sections' (Headstones only) or 'Kerbed Sections' (Headstone and/or Kerbsets). It is very important when discussing your preferences with the Funeral Director that you make your wishes clear at an early stage. If you would like to visit the cemetery before you make this decision please do not hesitate to contact our office for an appointment.
If, on the other hand, your family already own the Exclusive Rights of Burial in a grave, then provided you can produce either the Deed of Exclusive Rights of Burial or evidence that you are the proper person to exercise the Burial Rights then arrangements can be made for the burial to take place in the grave. In making these arrangements the Funeral Director will require some information about the grave and those interred in it. You may also be required to sign a document which indemnifies the City Council should a problem arise regarding the ownership of use of the Burial Rights.
You should also be aware that if the grave cannot accommodate any further coffins then cremated remains can always be interred in the grave.
Soon after the funeral has taken place we will write to the owner of the Exclusive Rights of Burial with further information, advice and in the case of a new grave the Deed of Exclusive Rights of Burial.
The Exclusive Right of Burial is granted to the person named on the Deed or Grant. This person only is allowed to have work carried out to the grave or its memorial.
Any changes of the information given on the Deed should be notified to our main office. This is especially important if the name or address is changed, when your Deed and our statutory records must be updated. The Cemetery fees are included on the Deed for your information and will have been dealt with by your Funeral Director.
