Coventry Community Safety Partnership

Coventry Community Safety Plan 2008-2011

Crime in Coventry has been falling for several years and the City Council is playing a key role in this success.

How we are helping to make Coventry safer

The City Council is a member of the Coventry Community Safety Partnership, which co-ordinates action tackling crime, anti-social behaviour and substance misuse. Other members include West Midlands Police, the National Probation Service, Coventry Consortium of Social Landlords, Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce,  NHS Coventry, New deal for Communities, Connexions, The Federation of Small Businesses, CVOne, The Youth Offending Service, The Swanswell Trust, and West Midlands Fire Service.

The causes and effects of crime and substance misuse are numerous and addressing them needs co-ordination of many agencies that have an influence on people's lives. The partnership approach works because it allows both the causes and consequences of crime and substance misuse to be addressed.

Community Safety Team

Coventry City Council has a Community Safety Team to co-ordinate action taken to make the city a safer place.

The City Council's role ensures that:

  • our young people are educated about the risks of crime
  • our streets and open spaces are designed to make crime harder to commit
  • that people misusing drugs have access to treatment services to break free from addiction
