Neighbourhood Management

What is Neighbourhood Management?

Neighbourhood Management is the way in which the council works to reflect needs and preferences in local neighbourhoods to improve its services and the quality of life of local people.

  • Our service works with you to find local solutions to your local problems:Such as addressing anti-social behaviour issues and environmental problems.
  • Gives you the confidence to be an active member of your community: Such as organising quarterly Ward Forum meetings, helping groups form and develop, and organising or supporting specific events and meetings.
  • Helps ensure that your ideas, concerns and priorities for services count: We meet regularly with Council Services and other agencies to make sure that they know what’s important in neighbourhoods when planning their services.

The Neighbourhood Management Annual Report for 2009 has been produced and can be viewed below.

How can Neighbourhood Management help you?

Working together and co-ordinated by a small central team, based in the Council House, our workforce is dedicated to working in your neighbourhoods and has expertise in a range of areas including: Community safety, environmental improvement, community development, community nutrition, neighbourhood patrols, and others.

Where does Neighbourhood Management work in local communities?

Neighbourhood Management work alongside partners including the Police, Voluntary and Community Sector, and health services across Coventry, in three geographical areas:

  • North West, covering Bablake, Sherbourne, St Michael’s, Whoberley and Woodlands Wards
  • North East, covering Foleshill, Henley, Holbrook, Longford, Radford and Upper Stoke Wards

Neighbourhood Management Review

Plans have been published for the re-structuring of the Neighbourhood Management service in Coventry. The proposals will see a move away from three area teams based in neighbourhoods to three functional teams dedicated to engaging local communities in the improvement of services in the city. The proposal is to house the new teams at Moat House Leisure and Neighbourhood Centre. The proposals are currently open for consultation until 3rd September and local groups and organisations are encouraged to read the proposals and send in their comments.

A downloadable copy of the Consultation document is available below.  Comments to be sent to Janice Nichols (contact details below)
