Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry
On Thursday 20 May 2010, Councillor Brian Kelsey and Mrs Brenda Kelsey were inaugurated as the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Coventry for 2010/2011.
Lord Mayor's biography
Councillor Kelsey becomes the city's First Citizen after representing the Bablake ward for 11 years.
He is married to Brenda and they have three grown up children.
In his time as a Councillor he has served as a Cabinet Member, Chair of the Licensing and Regulatory Committee, Chair of Scrutiny Board One and has also been part of the Standards Committee.
He is also a Freemen of the City having served his apprenticeship at Courtaulds as a draughtsman, subsequently working for a large multinational aluminium company in Birmingham in executive positions.
Councillor Kelsey said: "I am immensely proud to become Lord Mayor of Coventry. It is a huge honour.
"As Deputy Lord Mayor over the last year I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful people and it will be a true privilege to continue doing that as Lord Mayor."
