Our Parent Partnership Service provides information and support to parents whose children have special educational needs. We provide accurate and neutral information on the full range of options available to parents. We do not take sides, we help parents make informed decisions and enable parents to play an active role in the education of their child.

What does Coventry Parent Partnership offer?

The Coventry Parent Partnership Service provides an opportunity for parents' concerns to be listened to and responded to quickly. This enables the development of services for children with special educational needs, which reflect parental concerns and opinions.

We aim to offer a wide range of information and support services to help parents play an active role in the education of their child.

We work closely with parents, schools and other statutory and voluntary agencies to offer:

  • a telephone service for parents who want individual advice and information;
  • listening to your views and helping you to express them;
  • parent-to-parent support through daytime and evening meetings and workshops;
  • support to enable you to work closely with all professionals involved with you and your child;
  • information on parents' support groups and voluntary organisations locally and nationally;
  • help to prepare for meetings or support you at meetings to discuss your child's needs;
  • a regular monthly meeting - the Parents' Forum;
  • a drop-in Resource Centre, including a comprehensive library of books, leaflets and information, magazines and videos;
  • access to information about exclusions and bullying;
  • regular newsletter;
  • directory of local parent support groups and voluntary organisations who can help;
  • local and national organisations who can help you;
  • information and support for parents/carers of children who have special education needs;
  • help to explore the different options open to you for your child's education;
  • information and support for parents/carers of children who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from school;
  • help to prevent disagreements from developing into major disputes by encouraging and facilitating early discussions between those involved;
  • information about the One Voice parents group - helping to influence and shape services for disabled children;
  • support through the Statutory Assessment process and the Annual Review,
  • support at any stage of the graduated approach to Special Educational Needs as outline in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice.
