Support services
Coventry City Council's SEN and Inclusion Support Services work together with children and young people (particularly those regarded as vulnerable, or with special needs), their schools, their parents/carers, and others.
How we offer support
We work with children and young people to promote their:
- Educational, personal social and emotional development;
- Social and educational inclusion.
We do this through:
- Early intervention and effective prevention
- Raising expectations and achievement
- Supporting parents and carers
- Increasing the involvement of children and young people
- Increasing the accountability and partnership/integration of children's services
- Monitoring and maintaining effective service delivery.
This work supports the Local Authority and schools in meeting their statutory responsibilities (eg under the Education Act 1996 and the SEN and Disability Discrimination Act).
