Local Development Framework
Planning legislation has been updated under the 2004 Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act. This Act requires that Local Planning Authorities prepare a Local Development Framework (or LDF for short). Coventry's LDF is about managing change to secure the best achievable quality of life for all members of the community and working together to achieve agreed objectives in the development and use of land.

Components of the Local Development Framework
The existing planning policy framework is provided by the adopted Coventry Development Plan (CDP). The Council is awaiting the Core Strategy Inspector's Report, which is expected at the end of April. The City Council will then "Adopt" the Core Strategy during the Summer, at which point it will replace the Coventry Development Plan 2001. Please visit the Core Strategy page for more information.
