Homelessness

>The Housing Advice team provide assistance to people who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.

If you are worried that you may become homeless the Housing Advice team may well be able to help you find the best solution to your situation.  The team offer a range of services from advice on arrears and illegal eviction through to dealing with statutory homelessness applications.  The sections of this site give details of the services available.

Homelessness Prevention and Advice

The Council is trying wherever possible to prevent people becoming homeless in the first place, and so if you think you may be asked to leave your home by your landlord, it is important that you contact the Council without delay. There are a range of services to assist you in avoiding becoming homeless.

Homelessness Applications

If you are homeless or threatened with homelessness within 28 days we will need to make enquiries in order to assess whether or not the Council has a legal duty to house you. Our enquiries should not normally take more than 33 days in total, and the ways in which we look into your case are set out in law. See this section for an outline of the legislation and assistance.

Homelessness Directory

The City Council are by no means the only people who provide assistance to homeless people in Coventry. The Homelessness Directory contains details of services from advice agencies to hostels.

Homelessness Strategy

The current strategy runs from 2005-2010.  It is available as a pdf download.
