Empty homes
Empty properties are a blight on the community. They can rapidly attract vandals, be a focus for anti-social behaviour, can affect neighbouring properties as they can be a financial loss to the owner, both in terms of income lost and money spent. Council tax must be paid, maintenance is required and problems can be caused by squatters and vandals.
What we are doing about empty homes in the city
Since 2002 the Council has been pro-actively working to bring empty homes back into use.
- In this section you will find the Empty Homes Strategy detailing the work being done by the Council.
- If you know of an empty home please see the reporting an empty home page.
- If you are a Landlord with an empty home and would like to find out more about what we can do to assist you take a look at the landlords information pack.
