Coventry's Light Towers

The three centrally grouped Light Towers of Coventry are major landmarks. This Light Art installation has been designed to help predict the likely weather tomorrow - based on nationally available weather forecasts. Please follow the guidelines on this page. (Periodically the Light Towers perform a short light show unconnected with the weather.)


Hillman House

Hillman House predicts temperature change.

Warmer

Beacons moving up the crown of the tower indicate that tomorrow will be warmer.

No Temperature Change

Static beacons indicate no temperature change tomorrow.

Cooler

Beacons moving downwards indicate tomorrow will be cooler.

Mercia House predicts wind speed and direction.

Strong wind

Beacons move in the same direction as the forecast wind direction for tomorrow. The faster they move the stronger the wind.

Light wind

Beacons move in the same direction as the forecast wind direction for tomorrow. The slower they move the lighter the wind.

Coventry Point predicts air quality.

Good Air Quality

Green slow pulsing beacons indicate the air quality forecast for tomorrow is good.

Moderate Air Quality

Blue medium pulsing beacons indicate the air quality forecast for tomorrow is moderate.

Poor Air Quality

Red fast pulsing beacons indicate the air quality forecast for tomorrow is poor.
