Passport to Leisure and Learning
The Passport to Leisure and Learning scheme gives discounts on many leisure and learning activities across Coventry for people claiming a qualifying benefit, whatever their age.
What is a Passport to Leisure and Learning?
A Passport to Leisure and Learning offers reduced prices for a variety of activities at many venues across the city. Residents and non-residents (from 1 May 2008) of the city who qualify for a Passport to Leisure and Learning can benefit financially as well as improve their health and fitness, by joining the scheme.
Adult Passports
Do I qualify?
Yes If you or your partner are:
- Over 16
- Claiming a qualifying benefit, aged 16-19 years still in full time education (with a parent still receiving child benefit for you, or on a work based Governmental Training scheme)
What proof do I need?
- Council Tax Benefit - (Single occupancy, Council Tax exemption and reduction does not apply). A Council Tax bill or letter from the Council showing that Council Tax Benefit has been granted in your name.
- Housing Benefit - A letter from Coventry City Council.
- Income Support, Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, Incapacity Benefit and Industrial Disablement - A letter proving that your benefit is paid directly into your bank or building society account or a giro cheque. A Motability Agreement letter may be used as proof when the DLA benefit is used for a car.
- Pension Credit - A current letter of notification from the Pension Service.
- Working Tax Credit (WTC) - Your Working Tax Credit award letter, or WTC exemption card substantiated with proof of address.
- If you are aged between 16 to19 and in further education with Child Benefit still being received for you - We need to see the Child Benefit entitlement letter confirming that the benefit is paid along with proof that you are the child named on it. Your school or college stamp on the application form would also suffice.
- Job Seekers Allowance - Ask your Job Centre Plus to stamp the application form in the space provided .
- Work Based Learning for Adults or Government training scheme - Ask your training agency or employer to stamp the application form or sign the application form stating their position held, and a contact telephone number.
If claiming on your partner's benefit, please take additional proof such as a utility bill to show that you are living at the same address.
What will a Passport to Leisure and Learning cost me?
Residents
£4.00 for Adult for one year.
£2.00
for children for one year.
Non-residents
£12.00 for adults for one year.
£6.00 for children
for one year.
How do I obtain a Passport to Leisure and Learning?
Pick up an application form and venue guide at any of the issuing venues below or contact us on 024 7683 2368 and we will send you an application form by post.
Once completed go to one of the issuing venues and take with you:
- Proof of benefit or training programme as detailed above.
- A passport sized photograph of yourself.
- The fee

Children's Passports
If you are entitled to a Passport to Leisure and Learning and have children under the age of 16, then they can get a Children's Passport. This means that they can also get discounts at some venues . Children must have a Passport of their own to enable them to receive the Passport discount price at both Coventry and Foleshill Sport and Leisure Centres.For young people 16 and over please see "Do I Qualify" above. To apply for a Children's Passport go to the Post Office and take with you:
A Passport will then be issued to your child(ren) and it will expire on the same day as your Passport. Children cannot apply without their parent or carer being present. |
Leisure Plus OneLeisure Plus One is a discount card for people who due to a disability, need help to take part in leisure activities. With a Leisure Plus One card, your helper/carer will get free or cut price admission to assist you while you take part in your chosen activity. A Leisure Plus One is free to those people who hold a current Passport to Leisure and Learning . However if you have a disability and are not eligible for a Passport, then the Leisure Plus One card will cost you £2. There is no charge for a child's Leisure Plus One card if they are under 16 years old. Leisure Plus One cards are normally by post.
