Emergency Planning
The Emergency Planning Unit is responsible for the production, maintenance and development of plans for an integrated response to any major emergency. This involves working closely with the emergency services, other Council departments, other local authorities, voluntary agencies and industry to ensure that any response to a major incident is carefully managed to ensure a return to normality as quickly as possible.
Free online course to help you plan for emergencies
Coventry City Council provides an online course that is FREE of charge to all Coventry Business Ratepayers. The online course comes in six modules and features quizzes and actual examples to help companies draw up their own plans to cope in a crisis – whether that be flooding on the factory floor or two people in an office of three getting the 'flu.
To access the course or for further information click the following: Core Principles of Business Continuity Management & Planning (external).
The Civil Contingencies ActThe Civil Contingencies Act 2004 is an important element of the Government's work to enhance and update the resilience of the United Kingdom to disruptive challenges of the 21st century. The legislation and accompanying non-statutory measures give a single framework for civil protection in the UK. This improves the UK's ability to deal with the consequences of major disruptive incidents by improving the planning process at a local level, building better contacts between agencies and improving the link between local areas and central government.
