Watch this short DVD about our services.
Introduction
The Promoting Independence (known as P.I.) is provided by Coventry Community Services, Adults Social Care. It is an inclusive 6-week service for people aged 18 - 64 years, and takes place in a person's home environment.
The service aims to help to rebuild a person's confidence and independent living skills, which enables them to regain control over their own life and live more independently.
How does Promoting Independence work?
Once you have been assessed to see if you meet our eligibility criteria (which you have to do to access our service), an Occupational Therapist, Social Worker or both, will visit to carry out on-going assessments and provide you with the necessary support required. We will work in partnership with you to produce an individual P.I plan. This is designed to help you meet your specific goals. The plan will aim to maximise your physical and psychological abilities.
Providing you with support
Specially trained Support Worker(s) will help you put your plan into action on a daily basis, and ideally the same people will assist you throughout the duration of service. Any changes are closely monitored by you and your support worker on each day, and reviewed by your team weekly. The plan will be altered as and when required to further your progress as much as possible.
Our overall aim: "to empower an individual, promote their independence and decrease unnecessary dependency".
What will it cost me?
A charge will be made for the P.I service, for more information please call us on the telephone number below.
