National Carers Week 11 - 17 June 2007

From 11th June to 17th June, Coventry City Council, Community Services for Social Care, is supporting National 'Carers Week' by launching it with an event (invitees only) at the Ricoh Arena on Monday, 11th June.

What is National Carers Week?

Carers Week supports the UK’s six million carers – people who look after a sick or disabled friend, partner or relative. Many carers are not aware of services available to them and it is hoped events taking place across the UK will help to promote these.

The theme for the week – 'In Sickness and in Health'

The theme focuses on the health and emotional well-being of carers, and aims to highlight the effects that caring can sometimes have on their own health and welfare.

The launch

The launch will be held at the Ricoh Arena on June 11th. Opening speeches will be by Amanda Carr, Head of Older Peoples Services, Community Services and Councillor Shabbir Ahmed, Cabinet Member for Community Services. There will be information stands for carers to visit to obtain advice from, and a tour of the stadium pitch, with the chance to have their photograph taken in the dug out.
