PrimeLines works along Foleshill Road

The Foleshill Road corridor was Coventry's first Bus Showcase route, with works to improve bus priority measures on this road starting back in 1999, five years before PrimeLines began.

This scheme is part of the PrimeLines Project which has a deadline for completion in March 2008.

The main services that run along the corridor are the 20, 20a, 30a, 30c, 40, 50 and 60 that are run by Travel Coventry and the 48 and the x48 that are run by Stagecoach Travel Limited. The 4, 5 and 36 from Travel Coventry, the 736 and the 778 from Travel de Courcey and the 37, 47, 55, 56 and 57 that are run by Stagecoach also have elements of their journey along this corridor.

PrimeLines works on Foleshill Road, Longford Road and Bedworth Road

Works have been completed on Foleshill Road. The bus stops have all been upgraded to PrimeLines standard along this route to enable the introduction of Real Time Passenger Information. In addition, where possible, we have installed bus priority such as bus lanes and bus gates. We have also constructed additional parking and loading bays to assist local traders and residents. We have assisted in some landscaping schemes to improve the image of the area.

Sections 1.1 and 1.2 - Foleshill Road - Ring Road to Eagle Street

Improvements to the existing bus lanes and the existing bus gate have been completed and works are currently ongoing to improve pedestrian facilities at the junctions with Leicester Row, Harnall Lane West and at other locations along this section of Foleshill Road.

Section 1.3 - Foleshill Road - Eagle Street to Brooklyn Road

In order to support the traders along this section of Foleshill Road, we have replaced a segment of the 12 hour bus lane with a bus gate to continue the effect of the bus priority in the area whilst allowing room to install parking bays. The pedestrian and cycling facilities within the area have also been enhanced.

Section 1.3.1 - Foleshill Road - The Courtaulds Loop

This was the first project undertaken by PrimeLines to upgrade the Foleshill Road corridor. Existing bus priority has been improved and the traffic signals modified to improve traffic flow.

Section 1.4 - Foleshill Road - Lockhurst Lane to A444 (Phoenix Way)

This section has had its bus stops upgraded to PrimeLines standard and parking facilities have also been enhanced in the area.

Section 1.5 - Foleshill Road - A444 (Phoenix Way) to King George's Avenue

PrimeLines have enhanced bus priority in this area with the creation of bus lanes. The pedestrian facilities have been enhanced and the bus stops have been upgraded to PrimeLines standard.

Section 1.6 - Longford Road - Element Gardens to Ibstock Road

The bus stops in this section have been upgraded to PrimeLines standard.

Section 1.6.1 - Longford Road - Longford Square

PrimeLines have enhanced bus priority in this area with the creation of a short section of bus lane leading up to a bus gate incorporated into a pedestrian crossing. Working with Neighbourhood Management, the landscaping of the square has been improved.
