- Corridor 7 - University (and Earlsdon)
PrimeLines works from the University of Warwick
One of the busiest services in Coventry is Travel Coventry's number 12 service which connects the City Centre with the University of Warwick. The route goes past Coventry Railway Station, through Earlsdon, past Coventry Business Park, along the A45, through Canley and finally terminating at the University of Warwick. PrimeLines Corridor 7 follows the service 12 route, upgrading facilities and installing bus priority to improve reliability and decrease journey times.
This scheme is part of the PrimeLines Project which has a deadline for completion in March 2008.
Whilst the corridor follows the service 12, elements of the services 1, 14, 15, 19, 32, 33, 34, 42, 81 and 801 run by Travel Coventry, services 192 and 194 run by Travel West Midlands, services 43a, 538, 539, 540 and 541 run by Travel DeCourcey and services u1, 54, u2, x1, x16, x17 run by Stagecoach will benefit from the improvements made.

PrimeLines works from the University of Warwick:
Works are at various stages along the University of Warwick corridor. Construction work is currently being undertaken on Sir Henry Parkes Road, Kirby Corner Road, Coventry Business Park and Hearsall Common. Proposals along Earlsdon Avenue North are currently in consultation, and proposals further towards the City Centre are being developed.
Here you can find out more about what has happened along specific areas of the University of Warwick corridor and find out whom to contact if you have any queries.
The University of Warwick's PrimeLines works have been split into 6 sections. To find out more, click on their related links.
Section 7.1 - University Road & Gibbert Hill Road - University Road to Kirby Corner Road
PrimeLines have upgraded all the bus stops to PrimeLines standard.
Section 7.2 - Kirby Corner Road - Gibbert Hill Road to Charter Avenue
Work is substantially complete along Kirby Corner Road with it programmed to be complete by early January 2008. PrimeLines are constructing a short inbound bus lane leading up to Charter Avenue with a bus gate at the end to allow buses to rejoin the general traffic flow and maintain priority. We have also created a new cycle path to provide further links from Charter Avenue to the University of Warwick.
PrimeLines have also upgraded the bus stops to PrimeLines standard. In addition, we have completed a landscaping scheme including tree replacement.
Section 7.3 - Sir Henry Parkes Road - Charter Avenue to A45
Work on Sir Henry Parkes Road is programmed to finish in mid January 2008. PrimeLines have completed the construction of a new inbound bus lane and bus gate. PrimeLines are also constructing parking bays along this stretch to remove vehicles hindering the progress of the buses. We are also upgrading the bus stops to PrimeLines standard.
PrimeLines propose to construct a left slip road from Sir Henry Parkes Road onto the A45 (Birmingham bound) for general traffic to ease congestion at the junction. We also propose to install CCTV at this junction to monitor traffic activity and enforce regulations.
PrimeLines are also going to extend the right hand turn lane on the A45.
Section 7.4 - Tile Hill Lane - Herald Avenue to Broad Lane
Work is currently underway on constructing a new inbound bus lane running from the A45 junction with Tile Hill Lane through Herald Avenue to the junction with Broad Lane. This bus lane also prohibits general traffic flow in the inbound direction from entering the residential section of Tile Hill Lane, diverting traffic down Vauxhall Avenue and thus Herald Avenue.
We are also constructing an out-bound bus lane on Herald Avenue from the junction with Broad Lane to the junction with Sainsbury's where we're constructing a bus gate to allow the buses to rejoin the general traffic flow whilst maintaining priority.
You'll also notice two bus lanes at the junction with the A45 on the outbound side. These were completed in November 2007.
The bus stops will be upgraded to PrimeLines standard too.
Section 7.5 - Hearsall Common - Broad Lane to Earlsdon Avenue North
After deep consultation with the residents, and taking the time limit we have under consideration, PrimeLines have decided to construct an inbound bus lane on Hearsall Common from its junction with Broad Lane to Earlsdon Avenue North & Queensland Avenue. We have decided not to go through with the outbound bus lane on Hearsall Common itself at the current time, but may revisit the scheme at a later date.
The bus stops will be upgraded to PrimeLines standard too.
Section 7.6 - Earlsdon Avenue - Hearsall Common to Belvedere Road
The bus stops along this section will be upgraded to PrimeLines standard. These are currently under consultation with the residents and the last day to give us your opinions is Friday 11th January 2008.
Section 7.7 - Through Earlsdon - Belvedere Road to Spencer Avenue
The bus stops along this section will be upgraded to PrimeLines standard. These are currently under consultation with the residents and the last day to give us your opinions is Friday 11th January 2008.
Section 7.8 - Warwick Road - Spencer Avenue to Ring Road Junction 6
Due to the uncertainty over what is planned for Coventry Railway Station, PrimeLines have disregarded this section for upgrade except the bus stops on the bridge. We plan to upgrade these if time permits after the upgrade of the Earlsdon stops.
