New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA)
Under the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), we are responsible for the inspection of works within the public highway by any utility or private contractor.
How do I request permission to undertake work within the public highway?
If you need to undertake any work within the public highway you must request permission from Coventry City Council. You will be required to apply for a Street Works Licence and be able to show proof of NRSWA accreditation and be in possession of Public Liability Indemnity Insurance to a minimum of £5,000,000.
Penalties
Failure to apply for a licence before starting any works on the public highway is an offence under the Highways Act and the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
How do I raise concerns about the quality of work?
Please contact Coventry Direct, using the details at the bottom of the page.
