Potholes

A pothole is where the surface of the road has been eroded and a hollow has formed. Potholes can form quickly and are a hazard to the public highway.

What service do we provide?

We investigate all reports of potholes. The severity of the pothole and, therefore, the criteria for attention is determined by the risk it poses to road users. This is difficult to judge since all potholes present some risk.

The factors to be taken into account include:

  • size and depth of pothole
  • traffic type, speed and volume
  • road alignment
  • visibility
  • the position in relation to road width

We aim to:

  • Repair a pothole within one working day
  • Carry out inspections every six months on all roads and footways in Coventry and place orders for any necessary repairs.

Please help us by:

  • Reporting all potholes
