Coventry Family Information Service

The Family Information Services can help with a range of choices and information for families, parents and carers, and children and young people.

How the FIS can help you

The Family Information Service is totally free, impartial and confidential. It is run by Coventry City Council and the friendly, expert team is available to talk to you about all aspects of childcare for children between the ages of 0 and 20 years.

So, make sure you get the right advice from the right people, including:

• How to find the right childcare for your individual needs
• Information on the financial help that's out there and who to contact to claim it
• Information for children and young people up to the age of 20
• Information on quality standards and how to check if your chosen childcare provider is registered
• Advice and support on what to do if the childcare that you are using is no longer working or you feel its time for a change
• Advise on average costs, and information on financial help that is available
• Area-specific information and advice on practical steps such as arranging to visit a provider, getting agreements in writing and agreeing to settling in periods for both you and your child
• Advice and information on where to go for help and support if your child has a special need
