Peace and Reconciliation Weekend - Heritage Open Days 2018

St Leonard's church will host a 'Peace and Reconciliation' themed event.


Featuring a flower festival including a 3 metre cross of nails on the Bell Tower.

Provost Williams School will be putting on an exhibition on this theme including a banner presented on the front of the church which every child has contributed to.

Ryton History group are commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Great War with tributes to the young men who signed up from the village. A parade of 18 young men from the village will be marching down the high street dressed in WW1 uniforms to commemorate the 18 names on the villages memorial followed by the release of 18 white doves.

There will also be bell ringing, Ladies Guild choir and WW1 style dancing and singing.

The church has worn steps so caution is needed when entering the premises.


From the city centre take A4053, London Rd/A4114, A444, Stonebridge Hwy/A45 and London Rd to Church Rd in Ryton-on-Dunsmore.
