Good Citizen Award

Coventry City Council, together with the Coventry Telegraph, is reviving the Good Citizen Award for people who may not get the recognition they deserve for their efforts to help or improve the community.

You can nominate someone for the Coventry Good Citizen Award by using our online nomination form.

Who can be a good citizen?

It could be someone who has made Coventry a better place, or who has improved the life of the city through their selfless efforts. It could be a young child who devotedly looks after an older relative, or a tireless charity worker who always puts others first.
It could be anyone, doing any job, who goes far beyond what is expected of them – and does it willingly.

Past good citizens

Previous recipients of this award have performed acts of bravery, raised money for charity, rescued people trapped in fires, coached young children to achieve their athletic potential, a school caretaker, a postman and a caring student.

Other awards were given to a teacher for long service, an active member of a community association, a man who saved a person’s life by his quick thinking, people who helped the police catch thieves following robberies, a playgroup manager and three men who thwarted an armed robbery.

Council leader Ken Taylor said: “Coventry should be very proud to be associated with such people, who often do not realise the ‘feel-good’ factor that they produce in others just by doing their job.”

Lord Mayor Dave Batten commented: “Our city is full of wonderful people – let’s celebrate them!”
