find it! a guide to library collections

find it! - a guide to library collections throughout England.

What is find it! ?

find it! (external website) allows you to search for any subject that interests you across the collections of the best libraries in the country. You can use a straightforward search of all libraries or chose Advanced Search and look only at libraries in your own region or even within say, 10 miles, of where you live.

find it! also has details of opening hours and what you need to do if you are visiting a library e.g. taking some form of ID, or phoning in advance. So you'll know where to go, when and what you need to have with you. Access to all these libraries is free

Who is find it! for?

find it! is for anyone aged 16 or over* who wants more information than they can find in their own library. If you haven't used a library before, visit your local public library first and they will provide any help and guidance you need.

* Public libraries allow any age, many academic libraries have insurance policies that don't allow admission of under 16s

Who created find it! ?

find it! is supported by libraries of all kinds: public libraries, university and college libraries, health libraries and many specialist libraries too. The website was commissioned by Inspire  funded by The British Library (external website) and built by codegent.(external website).
