Smarter Travel Walsgrave

The Smarter Travel Walsgrave project ran from September 2009 until March 2010 and covered households in Walsgrave, Wyken, Lower Stoke and Henley wards. This follows the Primelines route along Walsgrave, Ansty and Hinckley Roads.

Key results included:

  • 9,165 households were targeted
  • 6,303 households were spoken with
  • 2,594 households participated in the project by speaking with a Travel Advisor and requesting travel resources
  • 10,374 resources were requested by households
  • 58% of those participants taking part in the follow-up evaluation survey felt that they had either made a change or would do so in the future.  This is broken down as follows:
    • 22% of those participants felt they or someone else in their household had made a change in their travel behaviour with an additional 36% of participants feeling they or someone else in the household would make a change in the future.
    • 75% of those who had made a change felt this involved a reduction in car use.
    • 36% felt they would make changes to their behaviour in the future.
  • Respondents reported a switch to sustainable modes with:
    • 15% stating they used the bus more
    • 12% walking more
    • 8% cycling more.
