Specialist Short Breaks

Broad Park Centre

Broad Park Centre.

Broad Park Centre is Coventry's integrated Children's Centre for children and young people with disabilities.  It combines a purpose-built residential Short Breaks unit for children aged 5 to 17 years with learning and/or physical disabilities, with on-site activity rooms for community-based activities.

Read our young person's guide to the centre.

The Centre is a social care facility: referrals come via the All Age Disability Team and are processed through the Short Breaks Panel.

In 2010-2011, the Centre benefitted from a capital grant of £550,000 from the former Government's Aiming High for Disabled Children transformation programme to improve services for children with disabilities.  The Ofsted inspection praised the involvement of children and young people with disabilities in the decision making and design process of the rebuild.

The centre includes four purpose built bedrooms, two activity rooms for group events, young people's meetings and consultations.  It also has a professional kitchen for independence and cooking skill activities. A range of  social events also take place throughout the year and activities to support transitions and early intervention work. Specialist activities for children with higher level needs are also included.
