Inspired by Coventry's 'One Big Thing'
For the One Big Thing in 2015, Jen took part in the 10k run despite only having run 5k before. She wanted someone she knew to join her, so asked her friend, Cara.
"We ran the full distance, stopping and walking only a few times for a short while". The support Cara gave to Jen was really valuable, and now they are running regularly together before or after work and they both ran the two castles earlier in 2016.
Jen really appreciates her friends support, and they encourage each other continue running throughout the year: "Cara always tells me I am a better runner than I think I am, and running with a friend is great motivation to carry on running outdoors in the wintertime!"
Jen also appreciates the motivation to keep going and says the benefits of staying active are not just the obvious health ones: "I feel the benefits in terms of my own physical health, and the sense of achievement every time I finish a run, and it has definitely become part of my lifestyle. It has certainly given me new friends, and something fun and different to enjoy with my family members who have occasionally joined me on obstacle course and mud runs (although I think they still think I am a little mad!)"
