Children's day care services review

Children's Day Care Services Review

Last year funding given to the Council by Government was significantly reduced. This means the Council has to look closely at what we do and find different ways to provide our services and for less money.

The Council is undertaking a review of the day care we provide in council run Children's Centres:

  • Middle Ride, Barley Lea, Canley, Tile Hill
  • Radford, Foleshill, Hillfields
  • Stoke Heath, Moat House, Bell Green

The review has been looking at how the nurseries could support more vulnerable children and their families and deliver the service in a more cost effective way.

Providing full-time day care in Council nurseries to everyone who wants it currently costs £1.8million and we need to look at ways of reducing this cost by £1m in the light of the financial pressures the Council is facing.
As part of that review we have come up with a number of options, one of which has been identified as a preferred option.

That is to:

Continue to deliver the service by Coventry City Council but reducing the offer from full day care to part time (sessional care) for children aged 2 years and over.

Please note - Any additional services or support being provided from the Children's Centre, will not be affected by this review.
