Access and inclusion

About access and inclusion

The Access and Inclusion Officer works with identified groups who may face barriers to accessing early education and childcare.

What service do we provide?

The Access and Inclusion Officer will:
  • Act as an advocate on behalf of parents who are seeking access to early education and childcare for their children
  • Works closely with the area Special Educations Needs Coordination (SENCO) team, Social Care and private, voluntary and independent organisations to identify the needs of families and provide resources, training and mentoring for staff to enable children to be included in their setting
  • Administer a small Access and Inclusion budget to support the above work
  • Coordinate the Community Childminders Inclusion Scheme
  • The Care to Learn Co-ordinator offers a brokerage service on behalf of the Family Information Service by providing impartial advice, guidance and 1 - 1 support to parents and carers with childcare barriers, thus enabling them to return to work, education or training.

The Access and Inclusion team also work with other agencies including:

  • Area SENCO Team
  • Social Care
  • Health Services
  • Family Information Service
  • Refugee/Asylum Seeker Services
