Coventry Historic Environment Project (CHEP)
Coventry historic environment project (CHEP)
The Coventry historic environment project was a two year community archaeology project which ended in August 2010. It was run in partnership between the Coventry and District Archaeological Society (CADAS) and the Councils Conservation and archaeology team, and part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The project aimed to further our knowledge of the Allesley and Keresley areas with the help of the local community, or anyone who wanted to take part in archaeological survey or historical research.
Participants were encouraged to learn about local archaeology and field work techniques by taking part in activities such as fieldwalking, geophysical survey, pot washing and a series of workshops about aerial photographs, woodland and landscape archaeology.
You can find out more about the project and the discoveries that were made by downloading the pages of the CHEP newsletter.
