Temporary event notices

Eugo logo.

A temporary event notice (TEN) is best used to licence small events which take place over a short period of time. They are especially useful for people outside of the licensed trade such as community events organisers, charities to licence events that contain any or all of the following:

  • selling alcohol
  • providing entertainment, eg music, (please note a TEN is not required until after 11:00pm for a premises with on sales and for an audience of up to 500 people.
  • selling hot food or drink between 11pm and 5am

Your event must:

  • have fewer than 500 people at all times – including staff running the event
  • last no more than 168 hours (7 days)
  • You must be at least 18 to apply for a TEN.

Late Temporary Event Notice applications

As well as the 'standard' TEN, which must be made 10 working days before the first day of the event, there is also a 'late' TEN. The 'late' TEN can be submitted between 5 and 9 working days before the first day of the event.  However if objections are received the event will not be permitted to go ahead and there will not be any right of appeal against this decision.

Christmas and New Year 2015 - Last date for TEN's

Standard Temporary Event Notices (TENs) must be received by the Councils' Licensing Section and the Police Licensing team at least 10 full working days before your event is due to commence. If you are planning to apply for any Temporary Event Notices for the Christmas and New Year period, please ensure you have submitted your applications by the dates shown below.

Late applications cannot be accepted - it is your responsibility to ensure that your notices are submitted to the appropriate authorities on time!  This now includes late TENs, these must be submitted within 5 and 9 clear working days before the event.  Remember if a late TEN is objected to by either the Police or the Environmental Protection Section then the event will not be permitted to go ahead.
