What is the Pod?

The Pod is a part of the Council which uses Social Brokerage to provide opportunity for change by redefining relationships with self-perspective, community and risk. The Pod is a part of a recovery journey, not the destination.

The Pod uses an asset based, solution focused model rooted within personalisation to enable connections, nurture aspiration and build resilience. Provoking individuals to step outside their comfort zones, reimagine their lives and move away from the subculture of services into mainstream society.

The Pod sits in people directorate and is part funded by the CCG. From the perspective of the general public, the Pod could therefore be positioned as part of social services and social care. The Pod has successfully reframed what should be expected of a mental health services with its focus on the city at large, people, assets and outcomes – being part of something bigger.

  • Connectivity – Bringing people, skills, neighbourhoods together (working without boundaries).
  • Cultivation – Recognising that everyone has something to offer (promoting personal and social growth).

Our Personalization and Recovery pathway is multi-faceted and incorporates Foundation Assessments including Needs and Wellbeing Assessment, which creates focused time to enhance and realise CPA Care Plans. The investment offered is solution focused, personalized and responsive. The Pod's approach aims to optimize a Citizen’s connectivity to and inclusion in their community and thus build sustainable social networks and relationships.As an outcome of our personalised and collaborative practice and our grass roots neighbourhood based work we create sustainable bridges to universal and purposeful opportunities or employment. The Pod utilize Social Brokerage skills to act as catalyst for people to research, appraise, cost and determine new opportunities and then complete Direct Payment applications when and where relevant. All of the above has been proven to reduce people's dependency on, or revolving usage of, both secondary mental health and specialist health and social care commissioned services by building resilience and
