The Pod and its arts collective, Collective//Pod, presents ‘Scratch the Surface – DIALOGUE 2017’, a two-week mental health arts festival that promises to celebrate contemporary practice and capture the provocative and vanguard.
Scratch The Surface 2016 captured in film and print
Coventry artists Alex Taylor – Mindsweep Media and Adele Mary Reed allow us to glimpse, through film and print respectively, the essence of two weeks in March, which saw the first Scratch The Surface Mental Health Arts Festival in Coventry.
Whether you were part of the Scratch the Surface festival or not, Alex Taylor’s film engenders an appetite for Scratch the Surface 2017, planned for March next year, and a curiosity about any part of the festival you may have missed.
Adele Mary Reed’s ‘The Making of Scratch the Surface’ newspaper delves behind the scenes, with photographs that capture the drive and determination of those involved to make it a success.
41 artists were involved in 15 events across 7 city centre venues over the fortnight bringing a mix of 3 fine art exhibitions, performance art, live curation, music, a zine festival, dance, film and audiences with BAFTA and award winning artists.
The festival, programmed and curated by The Pod’s Collective//Pod and inspired by its ambassador, British contemporary artist, Stuart Semple, offered art that sits a little outside the frame, living up to its strap line, ‘celebrating the provocative and vanguard’.
