Employment and training for disabled people

Useful support information

Support from your local Jobcentre

Help and advice is available for disabled people who want to find work from advisers at local Jobcentre Plus offices or Jobcentres.

Disability Employment Advisors (DEAs)

These can provide specialist support if you are recently disabled, or having problems getting a job because of your disability. They can carry out an assessment of how your disability affects work you may want to do, and can arrange a work preparation period. They can also provide information on WORKSTEP.

Access to Work (AtW) Advisers

They can give you information on the Access to Work programme, which support disabled people and their employers. It can include someone to support you with personal care and transport.

The Learning and Skills Council, Coventry

They provide information on all training opportunities for people over 16, including adult and community learning courses, work-based training and modern apprenticeships.
