Sport and Culture Innovation Fund

Culture fund

The Sport and Culture Innovation Fund offers up to £5,000 per organisation for an innovative project that breaks down the barriers between culture and sport in order to get more people moving. We're looking for projects which:

  • Target those who don't usually take part in physical activity
  • Use creative and innovative ideas
  • Involve collaboration between sporting and cultural organisations 
  • Aren't afraid to try something which might fail
  • Are willing to learn from past and future mistakes

Who can apply?

Sporting and cultural organisations including:

  • Sports clubs
  • Schools
  • Private companies (state aid rules apply)
  • Social enterprises
  • Individual artists
  • Charities/voluntary sector

What we can fund:

  • Coaches, artists, community activators etc
  • Venue hire
  • Equipment
  • Marketing/communications
  • Development support
  • Digital ways to get people active
  • Ideas that have been co-developed by local people
  • And more - we've tried to keep the criteria flexible

What we can't fund:

  • Projects not taking place in Coventry
  • Projects not supporting Coventry people
  • Projects without a clear cultural and sporting focus
  • Major capital projects
  • Projects that are discriminatory or political in any way
  • Activities you are already delivering/ongoing revenue costs
  • Activities that do not meet the three themes (see guidance notes)

There are two rounds of funding: Round 1 of funding closes on 25 January 2019. Round 2 closes on 1 March 2019. There may be future rounds depending on budget and demand.
