Coventry Jobs Strategy

Coventry City Council agreed an ambitious Jobs Strategy for the city in the spring of 2011. It is a prospectus for prosperity that demands equal access to employment for all and invites partners and stakeholders to join the challenge of creating new jobs.

The Council is determined to provide leadership and assistance to get people back into work, especially young people and those with the greatest needs. It has resourced three integrated work streams:

• Securing job opportunities - by facilitating investment and growth, by introducing innovative high profile projects, and through the recognition of Coventry as the right place to invest and grow 
• Helping people get jobs - through offering targeted help so that those who want a job have the opportunity to secure one that matches their skills
• Helping people improve their skills - by working with universities, colleges and businesses to equip people with the skills that investors need
