Making Progress to training and employment
Making Progress is a European Union funded project which helps to reduce re-offending rates in Coventry, by helping people with recent convictions to get a job.
Making Progress works with people who are currently supervised by the Staffordshire & West Midlands Probation Trust, in Coventry. We assist people to move toward employment. We promote vacancies made available through Coventry City Council and the the Recruitment Network. We support people by ensuring the early identification and co-ordination of appropriate services as needed. We co-ordinate activities which serve the individual needs of each person.
Making Progress is supported by Pertemps People Development Group and the European Social Fund. We also receive support from the Staffordshire & West Midlands Probation Trust, via the Innovations Fund, Coventry City Council and Supporting People. The team is located in Probation Service premises in Sheriffs Court, Coventry, at City Council offices in West Orchard House, Corporation Street, and at the Midland Heart Housing Association outreach facility at 396 Foleshill Road.
People are directly referred by the Probation Trust to Making Progress. The Making Progress team ensures people get access to a range of support, including housing and financial support, substance misuse, motivation and confidence. Making Progress also refer people for support, covering mental health, money management, anger management, coping skills, dealing with emotions, challenging perceptions, personal development programme, work preparation, work retention and counselling.
