Standards Committee
What is the Code of Conduct?
Every Council is required to adopt a Code of Conduct that sets out the rules governing the behaviour of its members. All elected, co-opted and independent members of the Council are covered by the code and the Standards Committee helps the Council develop its ethical standards and promote good practice, as well as review complaints on councillors' behaviour.
Complaints and investigations against Councillors and Co-opted Members
The Council's Standards Committee have responsibility for considering any complaints that a Coventry City Councillor or co-opted member may have breached the Code of Conduct (this link provides more information on the complaints procedure).
Any person can make a complaint that a Councillor or co-opted member has breached the Code of Conduct. It is important to remember, however, that complaints about the policies or performance of the Council or an individual Councillor does not fall under the Code.
