Community Development

The Community Development Service works with communities and individuals to identify and build on already existing strengths and skills within neighbourhoods. Our aim is to give people greater influence and control over what happens in their communities and the area they live in. We want to support individuals and groups to grow, develop and become more involved in the changes in their local area. We work closely with other agencies across the city including housing associations, public health and other council services, all of whom are keen to support the development of community groups and projects.

Help develop your event

Whether it is a one-day community event or a series of events, we can help you search and apply funding, link you with other organisations or signpost you to sources of equipment.

Help develop your group

If you want to develop your group we can guide you through the policies and procedures you need to complete.

Funding Support

We can help you identify and apply for funding to deliver your project or support your organisation.

Offer advice and support to develop your ideas

From a one-day event to looking at the future of your group, we can help you look at different options.

Advertise your event via social media and our website

Use our Twitter account @ourcov to advertise an event. We can also put this onto the events calendar.

Support for community centres

The community centre is at the heart of a neighbourhood and we support them with advice and information on business planning. Help develop links with other groups and encourage them to grow and keep delivering activities for their local communities.
