I started off doing a business, administration and retail course at college three days a week and I was finding it hard to get a job. Because of this I applied for a work experience placement in Regeneration Services at the Council.
I went for two weeks in May during the college holidays and really enjoyed it as I found the skills I gained complemented my studies. I then asked to continue attending work for one day week whilst finishing my studies. I finished college and worked hard towards improving my skills, showing that I have initiative and commitment. I have now secured an apprenticeship in this area which is the ideal next stepping stone for me. I am thankful for the opportunities and would recommend that everyone takes any opportunity available to them to improve themselves to move forward.
