I currently work in recruitment for the Council. Two years ago I was unemployed and struggling to find a job. I then joined a 12 week programme at the time called Life Skills run by Progressive Educational Tools (PETS) and New Deal for Communities (NDC). This gave me the opportunity to build my confidence, basic life skills and the ability to work as part of a team. At the end of the 12 weeks I was put in contact with the Entry to Employment Team who helped me to find a three month work placement in business administration with Regeneration Services. This placement gave me the opportunity to build on my skills and abilities within a work environment and gain the confidence to apply for an apprenticeship. I applied and successfully secured a 12 month apprenticeship at the Council as a clerical assistant within Workforce Development. I learned a lot during my time there and also attended college one day a week to complete my business administration NVQ Level 2.
I continued to develop within my apprenticeship to the point where I applied to the clerical pool within the Council and through that process I secured myself a permanent job working in recruitment as a clerical assistant. It is because of the Entry to Employment team that I am where I am today and I would recommend them to anybody!
