Launching in 2018.
The Access to Apprenticeship programme is a great opportunity for people aged between 16 and 24 in Coventry who are finding it difficult to obtain an Apprenticeship and are likely to see no benefit from training.
The programme, which is delivered by the Council's Apprenticeship Team over two weeks, focuses on helping young people develop employability skills. The course offers one to one, individual support and short, interactive, practical courses that are varied to maintain learner engagement which enables individuals to confidently apply for an apprenticeship either with the Council or with another external employer.
The programme covers how to search for jobs, writing job applications or CVs, career planning, confidence building, equality and diversity, maintaining motivation, preparation and skills for job interviews and how to approach employers.
The young people that have attended the programme have come from diverse backgrounds and the majority had left school without qualifications or basic literacy and numeracy skills and had highlighted confidence, no work experience or numeracy and literacy as the main barriers to them obtaining an apprenticeship.
