Adult Learners receive awards

Thursday 18 August 2011

People who have gained new skills and qualifications in courses run at Coventry's Central Library will be receiving awards this week.

Numidia - a training provider that runs a large learndirect centre at Coventry Central Library - will be hosting the awards ceremony at lunchtime on Friday 19 August.

They have been working in partnership with Coventry Central Library for four years to provide learning for adults and have a suite of 16 computers based within the centre on the balcony in the Library.

By the end of July Numidia learners had achieved more than 350 nationally recognised qualifications in either English, maths or IT (ECDL).

The awards ceremony will also feature an award to the Learner of the Year.

A spokesperson for Numidia said: "In a corner of Central Library, people are gaining new skills, confidence and qualifications on a daily basis.  We work with both employed and unemployed people, the vast majority are unemployed and are gaining essential skills which enhance their CVs, skills and confidence.

"Most courses and qualifications are completely free of charge and there is a choice as to how they learn as we have two learning pathways; Fasttrack or Intensive Workshop."
