Back to the 1980s Weekend
Monday 22 August 2011
Coventry Transport Museum and the BBC will be celebrating the 1980s as part of Domesday Weekend this week.
For 1980s car fans there will be the opportunity to get close to the Audi Quattro from the BBC Drama 'Ashes to Ashes' as the car will be a guest on Saturday 27 August in Millennium Place from 10am.
On both Saturday and Sunday (27 and 28 August) visitors will be able to take part in classic 1980s Computer Games via the BBC Big Screen on Millennium Place. Also being shown on the screen will be 1980s footage of BBC Midlands Today and Top of the Pops - big hair is essential!
Inside the Museum from 10am you can get involved with 1980s Fancy Dress, relive your childhood with a range of 1980s toys and the Un-Cool Wall with really embarrassing 1980s photos. You can learn all about the BBC's Domesday project with BBC staff in the Museum's Swift IT Centre.
Throughout the afternoon there is a full programme of entertainment starting with a 1980s disco at 1pm, a Bad Fashion Show with 10 models strutting their 1980s stuff at 2pm and rounding off the day from 3pm...the Kombat Breakers will be street dancing and body popping to wow the audience...all of this fabulous entertainment is FREE!
Admission to the Domesday weekend and to the Museum is FREE, with admission from between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August. You can find out more information about BBC Domesday by logging on to http://www.transport-museum.com/
