Santa’s sack calls for generous residents

Published Monday, 30 November 2015

Father Christmas, with help from a generous local woman, the City Council and City College Coventry, is calling for some help this Christmas to fill his sack with presents to give to local kids.

Santa’s Sack is requesting presents worth around £10 each, wrapped and labelled with the age range and gender of the child they’re intended for.

The gifts will be distributed to a number of the city’s more vulnerable children over the festive period.

In order to ensure that presents can be organised and delivered in time, the deadline for the donation of gifts is Thursday 10 December.

Sam Bodinnar, the organiser of the Santa’s Christmas Sack campaign, said:  “I want to thank everyone that has already donated for their amazing generosity and encourage those who would like to donate to get in touch.”

Cllr Ed Ruane, Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “I really hope that people get on board with this campaign, which is aiming to put a smile on the faces of lots of local kids who would otherwise potentially get nothing for Christmas.
“We’re supporting all of the hard work that Sam has already put in to the Christmas Sack campaign by helping with the outreach for the gifts – our staff and partners see many children that they know would love a Christmas surprise, and I’m really pleased that we can help.”

City College Coventry will also be supporting the campaign by organising donations from students and staff, and Santa’s Sack is looking for more organisations and businesses to support it with gifts or donations.

For those that would still like to contribute but are unable to donate a gift, a Gofundme page has been created. This can be accessed through the Santa’s Sack Campaign Facebook page

Presents can be dropped off at the reception of CC1, Little Park Street, CV1 5RS until Thursday 10 December.
