Neil and Carol prove they are Good Citizens

Published Thursday, 03 December 2015

A Coventry couple who have cared for around 100 children have been presented with a Good Citizen Award by the Lord Mayor.

Good Citizen

Neil and Carol Wilkinson have been foster carers for almost 40 years and have offered short-term, emergency and respite care to children of all ages. One of the children had a life limiting illness and Carol stepped in with her nursing skills to help.

The couple have represented views of other foster carers and provided support in the Foster Carer’s Association and worked closely with health and social care professionals to make sure their knowledge has been represented in any service developments.

Part of the citation giving the reasons why Neil and Carol have been given the Good Citizen Award, states: “Carol and Neil nurture and care for young people who would otherwise have a very poor start in life. They are an inspiration to us all and without doubt deserve the accolade of ‘Good Citizens.”
