Amanda Atkins and Kris Townshend have been presented with the Coventry Good Citizen Award for going above and beyond when it came to their high standard of support to an end of life patient.
The two carers were nominated for the award by the daughter of their patient, who felt that they showed kindness and dignity to her father.
The family was treated with respect and compassion, and felt that Kris and Amanda gave excellent care to their patient at the time of his greatest need.
Cllr Michael Hammon, the Lord Mayor of Coventry, said: “Kris and Amanda have helped bring dignity, care and respect to an end of life patient and their support was a great comfort to his family.
“I would like to thank them again for their high standard of support to the patient and his family; it was an honour to meet them. Their unselfish approach to such a delicate situation is what makes the pair worthy winners of the Good Citizen Award. They have many years of caring experience between them and I hope they will continue for many more to support the people of Coventry.”
Amanda and Kris received their awards from the Lord Mayor in the Council House.
