Since 1983, International Confex has occupied an unrivalled position in the UK as the focal point for thousands of event buyers - professional and commercial conference and exhibition organisers, corporates, agencies and associations seeking venue, destination and supplier inspiration. This year’s event took place between 2 and 3 March.

Coventry City Council led a delegation of private sector partners, working together to showcase the region as an ideal location for business tourism.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Confex partnership included Coombe Abbey Hotel, the Ricoh Arena and Warwick Conferences.

The exhibition aimed to highlight Coventry and Warwickshire as a diverse, well connected and culturally rich destination which excels in providing business delegates and organisations with a professional, powerful and modern conference package.

Cllr Kevin Maton, Cabinet Member for Business, Enterprise and Employment, said: “Those that live in Coventry and Warwickshire are already well aware of what the area has to offer, and Confex is a great opportunity to showcase this to national and international business delegates.

“Uniquely, we can cater for every type of event or conference, whether that means being immersed in historical surroundings or hosted by the very cutting edge of conferencing venues. By working in close partnership with our partners, delegates were able to visit one stand to find out all they needed to know about our region.

“We’re right in the middle of the country, with brilliant transport links and a wealth of cultural assets, from the city to the countryside. A number of opportunities arise from Confex every year, and feedback from this year looks set to be no different."

Over 3,900 Confex visitors attended the exhibition, looking for venues to host their next event, with over 80% looking for event support /service suppliers. The Coventry and Warwickshire conference team, operated by Coventry City Council, continues to provide event support to multinational corporations and businesses, securing a large variety of events for the city and region.

June Picken, Sales Director at Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “Coombe Abbey has experienced significant growth over the last year in terms of events – our corporate bookings in particular rose by 13 per cent – and an international platform such as Confex presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase the region and its assets.

“Coventry and Warwickshire sits in an unrivalled central location and has much to offer in terms of corporate events and conferences - so as we continue our involvement with the Coventry and Warwickshire partnership, we look forward to working with Coventry City Council to champion the region and raise its profile.”

A total of 85% of visitors who attend International Confex have budgetary responsibility and act as key players in any decision making over where to stage their company’s next event. Coventry and Warwickshire is proud to showcase a broad range of venues, which cater for small to large budgets, all with a central location, just an hour from London and 20 minutes from Birmingham.
